Artist Namboodiri's Navathi will be celebrated this week.

A tribute to Artist Namboodiri, highlighting his life and works, will be organised on Friday at David Hall, Fort Kochi.

Varadakshina, as the event is called, will be a celebration of the artist’s Navathy (ninety years), will be presented through a designer’s eye, stated Lakshmi N. Menon of Good Karma Foundation, an organisation working for the under-privileged and disadvantaged.

Aesthetician and academician S. Ajayakumar will speak on the works of Artist Namboodiri. The award-winning documentary, ‘Namboodiri Varayude Kulapathy’ directed by Binu Raj, will also be shown at the venue at 4 p.m. prior to the inauguration.

A group of artists led by V.K. Jayan of Terracraft will be painting diyas at 2 p.m. for the main event at 5 p.m. Tripunithara Krishnadas will accompany Artist Namboodiri with Edakka and Sopanasangeetham while he sketches his new work. Designers’ Collective, a group of well-known artists and designers from across Kerala, will present their work ‘Varadakshina Edition’. This design line will be based on Namboodiri's finest sketches executed on various fabrics and other medium. Artist Namboodiri will also inaugurate Grandmark, a trademark to easily identify products created by senior citizens.
