District Collector K. Mohammed Y. Safirulla has issued an order modifying traffic reforms in Aluva town in keeping with the demands of the travelling public.
The new reforms will be in force for a month. They will later be placed before the Regional Transport Authority (RTA) for taking a final decision.
Mr. Safirulla, who is also the RTA Chairman, said that he had brought about the changes keeping in mind three important parameters – smoothening traffic to the Taluk Hospital, railway station, and KSRTC bus station which are frequented by the public; ensuring hassle-free and safe movement of students during morning and evening peak hours, and facilitating KSRTC and private buses to cover Aluva town in a time-bound manner.
Under the new arrangement, two-wheelers and three-wheelers will be permitted from Matha Junction to Pump Junction, and they will be allowed to go to Market Junction from Karothukuzhi Hospital Junction from where they will have to take the right turn to St. Dominic Church and eventually reach the railway station via Masjid pocket road while passing by the hospital. Similarly, they will be allowed entry from private bus station to Market Junction. The Regional Transport Officer and traffic police will supervise the implementation of the new reforms.
Mr. Safirulla had visited the town on January 30 on receiving widespread complaints and suggestions on traffic reforms.
He visited the town again on Friday after holding consultations with various departments concerned before ordering modifications.
