The gap that appeared on the Sree Sankara Bridge in Kalady will be fixed at the earliest and traffic along the stretch will be restored to the full-scale within two days, PWD Minister Ebrahim Kunju on Saturday.

“We have already commenced works on the structure and I have directed the senior officials including the Chief Engineer as well as the Superintending Engineer to monitor the works and ensure its time-bound completion’’, the Minister told The Hindu on Saturday. The Chief Minister has convened a meeting to discuss issues related to the bridge on September 24, during which any further decision on the major repair would be taken. The current bridge, having a length of 400 metres, was constructed in 1963.
