Narcotics Control Bureau seizes over 3.7 kg of heroin

The Narcotics Control Bureau (NCB) seized over 3.7 kg of heroin from two people in the district on Friday morning. This is the third heroin smuggling attempt detected by the Bureau this week.

The heroin was seized from Johnson M.T., 58, and Francis T.A., 53, both residents of Thrissur, from Panikkal in Ernakulam, in the wee hours of Friday. NCB officials said the accused were trying to smuggle the drug to Kuwait. The two men will be produced in court on Saturday. The accused were arrested following information from four persons who were held from the Cochin International Airport at Nedumbassery the previous day with over 3.7 kg of heroin in their possession.

The four Thrissur natives – Dileep T. Haridas, 27, Lijo K. Jose, 32, Shaheer P.H., 40, and Vijeesh I.R., 28 – allegedly conspired to smuggle the heroin to Kuwait.
