The autonomous Ernakulam Maharaja’s College is planning to adopt a digital route to make its admission and evaluation systems highly efficient and transparent.

The aim of the initiative is to introduce an end-to-end network that will make all works related to admission, examination, evaluation and publication of results online. The project is one among several new initiatives being planned by the governing council of the college.

“Such an integrated system would step up the quality of work associated with admission and evaluation of the students.

We are already admitting students based on an online registration process. The virtual automation process would cover various works related to the examination and evaluation of students,” said T.V. Francy, the new chairman of the governing council.

Better services

Prof. Francy, former Principal of the college, said that many colleges had switched to a similar network to enhance quality of services being offered to the students. He said that the automation project would also improve the efficiency of the examination wing.

Similar projects

The college authorities will look at similar projects being implemented by leading colleges in the State and outside. An end-to-end virtual route would help candidates fill their examination forms online. The software would include systems that would ensure whether the candidate is eligible for appearing in the exam. Even the admission tickets could be made available online using this system. Faculty members could also evaluate the answer sheets digitally.

Council meet

The governing council of the college will meet next week to approve the restructured syllabus for the undergraduate and postgraduate courses.

It will also approve the regulations for admission to various courses in the new academic year.

The council is likely to hand over the online registration and allotment process for admission in the new academic year to LBS Centre for Science and Technology, which conducted the admission process last year.
