Neethiman II, a fishing boat with inboard engine and 40 people on board, was towed to safety by personnel of the Fisheries Marine Enforcement using a patrol boat on Monday after fishing net was caught in its propeller. The boat was brought to the Munambam harbour safely.

The Fisheries Department has put in place special arrangements for the safety of fishermen during the monsoon season, which is also the period of the trawling ban. Special arrangements include the Fisheries Control Room for rescue and safety operations (0484-2502768, 9496007037, 9496007029).
