‘A book for a child’ scheme, which was successfully tested in the inaugural edition of the Krithi International Book Fair and Knowledge Festival in 2018, will be executed in a bigger way this year.
Nearly all 35,000 child visitors to Krithi 2018 had brought in the free coupons of ₹250 each they received and bought books. The forthcoming edition of the fair in February targets to give coupons worth ₹1.5 crore. The organisers expect that there will be at least 80,000 children visiting the fair, says a release.
“The number of children’s publishers attending the fair will be higher this year, and through organised efforts, Krithi will attract children from all districts across the State, especially with the help of cooperative institutions,” said Krithi general convenor S. Ramesan.
To streamline the crowd, visiting days for children from each districts will be planned. Educational institutions that would like to plan their visit may also choose their slots in advance by logging on to www.krithibookfest.com , says the release.
There will also be programmes, including games such as treasure hunt, for children visiting the fair.
In association with the education department, Krtihi 2019 will also hold a Children’s Parliament to discuss ‘Rebuilding Kerala’.
