A 26-year-old woman riding pillion with her brother on a motorcycle was fatally run over by a tourist bus when she fell on the road near Nalgonda crossroads in Malakpet here on Saturday morning.

The accident happened on busy Dilsukhnagar - Koti road around 7 a.m. when Kavya Goud was on her way to take Railway Recruitment Board exam at a centre in Alwal. Kavya is a resident of Saidabad.

“Her brother Sai Prakash Goud tried to overtake the bus from left and did not notice that the tarmac has ended. He lost control after the bike fell in the small ditch on the corner of the road,” Chanderghat inspector G Nagaraju said. They both fell to the right, while Kavya came under the rear wheels of the bus belonging to Sony Travels. Goud escaped with minor injuries. Police registered a case under Section 304-A (causing death by negligence) against the bus driver and Goud. The bus was engaged by Kendriya Vidyalaya, Bowenpally, for an excursion trip, Mr. Nagaraju said.

The victim’s body was handed over to the family members after postmortem at Osmania General Hospital morgue.
