Discipline, hard work and commitment alone can create lasting legacies and stories of such successes need to be narrated to inspire greater successes, said ace shuttler P.V. Sindhu.

Speaking at the release of the book ‘Blood, Sweat and Honey’ authored by V.R.K. Rao, the owner of Premier Badminton League franchise Hyderabad Hunters and chairman of Agile Group, on Saturday, Sindhu said today’s youth was largely inspired by instant success stories emerging from the technological world.

Rao’s life story exemplifies just that — despite humble beginnings and personal tragedies, he attained success in diverse fields, built a thriving business group and, more importantly, touched lives. “His is an inspirational life and I am happy to release his biography and wish it will inspire many more to have similar success stories despite adversity,” the badminton world champion said.

Dr. Rao traced his life’s journey recalling how he struggled to pay even ₹16 as house rent and had to face acute hardship. “Not all are privileged and born with a silver spoon. I have come up the hard way and the reason for writing this book is to convey a message that to be successful in life, adversity is not a hurdle but should be looked up as a challenge,” he said.

For his part, chief national coach P. Gopichand said Dr. Rao’s success story should inspire many to not be despondent when down in life.
