The row over the authority on the A.P. State Council of Higher Education (APSCHE) assets and infrastructure appears to have finally settled with the newly formed Telangana State Council of Higher Education (TSCHE) taking over the APSCHE office and deciding to control the bank accounts after the High Court order that it belonged to the state of Telangana, and the APSCHE has to find a new place for itself.

After the judgement, the TSCHE officials literally occupied the offices leaving no space for APSCHE officials even to sit. “We have been arguing about our right on the State Council ever since we came into existence and the court has finally approved our argument,” said TSCHE Chairman, Tummala Papi Reddy, who has now taken possession of the room where the APSCHE Chairman L. Venugopal Reddy used to function from.

TSCHE officials say the issue could have been settled in a more amicable way but for the “arrogance” of the APSCHE officials who refused to share funds with the TSCHE on the basis that the division of assets had to be done with the intervention of the Centre. This “adamant” attitude of APSCHE that refused to even share funds for day-to-day functioning angered the TSCHE forcing it move to the High Court. The TSCHE had asked for just Rs. 2 crores. With the judgment in its favour, the TSCHE has now written to the banks that the TSCHE Secretary holds the cheque power.
