Bharatiya Janata Party national president Amit Shah criticised TRS president and caretaker Chief Minister K. Chandrasekhar Rao for not officially celebrating the liberation of Hyderabad State.

Mr. Shah alleged that the TRS leadership has mortgaged the interests of Telangana and sacrifices made by scores of youth, who fought against the Nizam’s rule and Razakaars, to Majlis-e-Ittehadul Muslimeen (MIM). Mr. Shah, who addressed the concluding session of the party youth wing’s Yuva Morcha conclave on Sunday appreciated Narendra Modi-led government’s efforts to erect the tallest statue of Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel on October 31.

The erstwhile Hyderabad State comprising Telangana and parts of Karnataka and Maharashtra was liberated from the Nizam’s rule at the instance of Vallabbhai Patel, but the government was not prepared to celebrate the event.

He said the incumbent government was likely to change after the forthcoming elections and the BJP would ensure that the Liberation Day was celebrated officially.

BJP State president K. Lakshman criticised the “anti-youth policies” of the TRS government, which led to large scale unemployment and dissatisfaction among youth. “Leave alone filling scores of vacancies in government departments, the TRS government has failed to conduct one district selection committee examination for selection of teachers in its four-and-a-half-year rule,” he said.

Describing Mr. Rao as “villain number one” for Telangana youth, he asserted that the BJP would conduct a mega DSC if the party was voted to power. He recalled the Vijay Sankalpa Yatra conducted by the Prime Minister in Telangana ahead of the 2014 elections and the State has once again become the platform for launching the party’s campaign.
