TN Governor releases book on A. Chakrapani

Governor of Tamil Nadu K. Rosaiah lauded Dr A. Chakrapani, Chairman of Andhra Pradesh Legislative Council for being a leader of the masses who made his mark by earnest grassroot work.

He was speaking at the release of a book on Mr. Chakrapani at the AP Legislative Assembly on Sunday.

The book detailing Dr. Chakrapani’s life was written by his daughter, Niraja Regula. The author is based in Miami, United States. The book is titled, My dad…As he sees the world and as the world sees him.

Speaking at the meet, Mr. Rosaiah outlined his long association with Mr. Chakrapani as a politician and a friend. “He is a man who holds on to principles and his integrity always served him well,” said Mr. Rosaiah.

Mandali Buddha Prasad, Deputy Speaker of Andhra Pradesh Legislative Assembly said that Dr. Chakrapani went on to serve the people even when the Legislative Council was rendered defunct for about 20 years.

Dr. Chakrapani has doctorate in Law and practiced as an advocate of Writs, Civil and Criminal Cases at the AP High Court. He was a member of the Legislative Council from 1976 to 1985 and from 2007 till date. He served as the chairman of Committee of Privileges, Committee on Assurance, Committee on Petitions and various other House committees. Subsequently, he became the Deputy Chairman of the Andhra Pradesh Legislative Council and later the Chairman of the Council. Speaking at the release function, Ms. Regula said she has been working on the book since 2010. “My father is an inspiration for me. While many of the events and stories described in the book unravelled in front of my eyes, his friends, associates and elders in the family confirmed the details,” she said.
