Shibli Bilal, a city-based techie who is being questioned by the NIA for his links with ISIS sympathisers, is son of Mohammed Shafique Mujawar, one of the accused in 2002 Dilsuknagar Sai Baba temple bomb blast case.
In February last year, Shafique was deported from Doha in Qatar to Delhi by Interpol, and was later brought to Hyderabad, sources said. Shafique had links with Pakistan’s terrorist organisation Lashkar-e-Taiba. “He played key role in the 2002 bomb blast by organising meetings in Dubai,” sources said, adding that he was also wanted by other international law enforcement agencies. Continuing their extensive probe into the 2016 Abu Dhabi module, the National Investigation Agency on Monday questioned three persons, following searches at their houses on Saturday. They were said to be having links with two city-based ISIS sympathisers — Mohammed Abdullah Basith and Mohammed Abdul Qhadeer — who were arrested in August last year.
The agency on Saturday conducted searches at the houses of three people in different parts of the city and took them to its regional office in Madhapur for questioning. The suspects were again summoned on Monday morning and were reportedly quizzed for more than seven hours on their family and educational background. Another team of NIA from New Delhi questioned ISIS sympathiser Mohammed Abdullah Basith’s second wife Maimuna at her residence in Wardha of Maharashtra. Basith married Maimuna without his parents knowledge. Investigators said that the role of Maimuna in the conspiracy and her relationship with Basith was found after the in-depth analysis of the conversations between them on various social media platforms.
Three people who were reportedly being questioned by the NIA were identified as Tahan Masood Lamba of Kings Colony in Mailardevpally, Shibli Bilal from Jahanuma in Falaknuma and Zeeshan, an auto driver from Maqbool Nagar. They were let off in the evening and are likely to be questioned on Tuesday too.
Investigators in the city were reportedly monitoring the movements of the trio for the last few weeks and only after getting instructions from their headquarters at New Delhi, the raids were conducted and started questioning them. “The interrogation will intensify based on the leads acquired from the analysis of seized digital devices from them. They are sent to Central Forensic Science Laboratory in Hyderabad, which will submit a preliminary report in a day or two,” sources in the NIA told The Hindu .
The seized digital devices, including mobile phones, SIM cards, pen drives and SD cards were sent to CFSL in Ramanthapur for analysis.
Earlier, our cyber forensic teams have already analysed the conversion between Basith, Qhadeer and the trio who are being questioned in Hyderabad on social media platforms. We need to verify the same technically,” the source said.
