Tanker driver crushed to death

A water-tanker driver was crushed to death by the vehicle that he himself was to steer on Thursday.

Police said that the incident occurred between 2 p.m and 3 p.m. when the deceased R. Sekhar got down from the vehicle to release water by opening tap valves, the tanker fatally pinned him to a wall, as he failed to apply hand brake before getting down.

Youth held for threatening to commit suicide

A 24-year-old youngster, who was earlier arrested on charges of assaulting an on-duty Sub-inspector attached to Madannapet, has threatened to kill himself, to evade police on Thursday.

The Madannapet police said that Mohammed Ibrahim on Wednesday night sent a message to police control room claiming that he was being harassed by police.

“The accused informed the control room that he is going to commit suicide and police will be held responsible for his death and later got himself admitted in Osmania General Hospital claiming he had consumed 25 sleeping pills,” said D Nagesh, Inspector, Madannapet. A case has been invoked against the accused by Santhosh Nagar police on charges of threatening to kill himself.

The inspector said that Ibrahim, who is already involved in several cases, claimed himself to be a political leader of the ruling TRS in the area.

Three held for vehicle theft

The Rajendranagar police on Thursday nabbed two persons — K P Ravichandra Kumar (35) and T Sai Kumar (25) — for their alleged involvement in vehicle theft and seized stolen vehicles worth ₹ 6 lakh from them.

Police said that L Mohan, a car driver lodged a complaint last month that his vehicle was missing from Hyderguda. Based on that complaint, police registered a case and remanded the duo to judicial custody.

The Rajendranagar police also arrested a 31-year-old auto-rickshaw driver on charges of stealing the same auto-rickshaw, which he was driving for livelihood.

The accused was identified as Mohammed Gaffer, a resident of Pahadishareef.

Man held for clicking pictures in metro rail

A 65-year-old man was nabbed by SHE team of Rachakonda, on Thursday for allegedly taking photographs of woman passengers in metro train, without their knowledge.

Rachakonda Commissioner Mahesh Bhagwat said that N. Narsimha, a retired employee of Education Department and a resident of Abdullapurmet, was arrested during decoy by SHE team in metro train at Uppal station

Fake currency racket busted

A fake currency racket involving a woman and her two associates were busted by Rachakonda police in Jawaharnagar on Thursday.

Police said Safeda Bee, Shaik Majeed and Rafeek Alam exchanged the fake currency notes with a face value of ₹ 2,000 with small traders and cheated them.

Acting on a tip-off, police arrested the trio and seized 37 fake currency notes with a face value of ₹ 2,000 and ₹ 50,000 cash from their possession.
