Sixth zone created in GHMC

Greater Hyderabad Municipal Corporation Standing Committee on Thursday passed a resolution adding a sixth zone to the corporation’s earlier five zones.

In addition to the L.B. Nagar, Khairatabad, Charminar, Secunderabad, and Serilingampally zones, the sixth zone will be Kukatpally, a release informed. Circles in the Serilingampally and Secunderabad zones have been adjusted into the Kukatpally Zone.

Thus, the Serilingampally Zone will now have Yousufguda, Serilingampally, Chandanagar and Ramachandrapuram circles, the Secunderabad Zone will have Amberpet, Musheerabad, Malkajgiri, Secunderabad and Begumpet, while the Kukatpally Zone will have Moosapet, Kukatpally, Gajularamaram, Qutbullahpur and Alwal circles. The standing committee also cleared some land acquisition proposals, namely for the 100 feet road proposed between Kamineni Hospitals in L.B. Nagar up to Sushma Junction via Mansurabad, and 80 feet road between Begumpet and Necklace Road railway bridge.

It has also been proposed to appoint ‘Spa Capital’ as consultant to GHMC on investments.

Other proposals cleared include proposals for renovation of Moazzamjahi Market, MoU with South California University for study on better delivery of citizens’ services and other issues, provisions for newly constituted Enforcement Cell, renting out of Raheempura playground for making eco-friendly Ganesh idols, and handing over of 500 square yards of land for Excise department, among others, the note said.
