Activists of the Students Federation of India (SFI) district committee conducted a fund-raising campaign here on Thursday in aid of people affected by the current spell of devastating floods in Kerala.

A team led by SFI district secretary T. Naga Raju mobilised funds for the flood-affected people of Kerala by visiting various offices and institutions in NSP Camp Colony and some other parts of the town as part of the day-long fund-raising campaign.

In a statement, Mr. Naga Raju said the latest spell of unprecedented rains in Kerala had left a trail of destruction in the small State.

The Kerala government’s swift response helped avert major loss of life, he said, adding that the Central government should extend all possible help to flood-hit Kerala in view of the enormity of the devastation caused by unprecedented heavy rains in the past few days.

He said funds raised through the day-long campaign, along with relief material, will be sent to Kerala government’s flood relief fund for distribution among the flood victims in Kerala.
