Seven die in wall collapse due to rain in Hyderabad’s Bachupally 

The boundary wall, which was 30 to 40-foot high, came crashing down in the Renuka Yellamma Temple Colony where a five-storied residential building was being constructed

Six workers and a four-year-old boy died when the retaining wall of an under-construction apartment complex collapsed in Bachupally on Tuesday evening after heavy rains lashed the city.

After an overnight operation that lasted between 7 p.m. and 5 a.m., the deceased have been identified as Ram Yadav, 44, Geetha Bai, 40, and their four-year-old son Himanshu. Others were Shanker Goud, 18, Sripati Maheji, 23, Bindresh Bhavani Chauhan, 30 and his wife Khushi, 20. 

According to the Inspector, Bachupally, “The boundary wall, which was 30 to 40-foot high, came crashing down in the Renuka Yellamma Temple Colony where a five-storied residential building was being constructed.” The six-foot wide mud barrier supporting the compound wall dissolved after the heavy rains which caused the wall to collapse over the makeshift sheds on the rear side of the apartment. The bodies have been sent to Gandhi Hospital for postmortem, the official informed.
