Telangana government will bestow special attention on Hyderabad to provide quality power supply by strengthening and constructing new sub-stations at a cost of Rs.700 crore.

Disclosing this in the Legislative Council here on Tuesday, Energy Minister G. Jagadeeshwar Reddy said that the work on 400 KV, 220 KV, 132 KV and 33 KV sub-stations would be completed soon. Underground electricity cabling work was also progressing, he said.

The Minister said that a meeting of MLAs and MLCs hailing from Hyderabad metropolitan region would be called shortly to address the power-related issues.

Responding to issues raised by AIMIM member Syed Jaffrey about laxity of Electricity Department in responding to consumers’ complaints, the Minister said at present the department was short of staff. Recently a notification was issued for recruitment of 1,422 Assistant Engineers.
