Trains are running packed towards Hi-Tec City station during peak hours.

Metro Rail travel towards HiTec City will be easing a wee bit for scores of passengers commuting on the route with the Hyderabad Metro Rail (HMR) announcing ‘normal operations’ from Jubilee Hills Check-Post from Tuesday onwards.

Managing Director N.V.S. Reddy said Metro trains are being run for every four minutes unlike the 7-15 minutes earlier and this, he expected, will reduce the peak hour rush on the trains. Trains frequency on Corridor 1 - Miyapur to L.B. Nagar too has been increased to five minutes from about six-seven minutes. With this about 60 additional trips (10 in Corridor 1 and 50 in Corridor 3) are to be run in addition to about 270 trips being taken up daily. “We will run trains at this frequency for about two to three weeks. Once operations stabilise, frequency of trains will be further increased to three minutes thereafter, if required. We have also reduced the air-conditioning to 23 degree C for better comfort of passengers,” said Mr. Reddy.

The increased frequency of trains for HiTec City has become possible following commissioning of the ‘reversal’ facility beyond the metro station and closer to the Trident Hotel. This will enable trains to take a reverse after reaching the HiTec City station and enter into the platform number two after arriving on platform number one from Ameerpet/Jubilee Hills Check-Post station.

Hitherto from March onwards and ever since the route towards HiTec City station was commissioned, metro rail authorities have been running trains on twin single-line system where trains are allowed on both tracks and return on the same side because of the lack of ‘reversal’ facility — about 600 metres viaduct towards the Raidurg terminal station or Mindspace Junction.

L&T Metro Rail Hyderabad (L&TMRH) has completed the viaduct construction and overhead electric line upto Raidurg, 1.5 km from HiTec City station, which will be last stop for Corridor 3 (from Nagole).

However, the MD stated that the station work is still being done and it will be ready in September only.
