Murder attempt on bar waiter masterminded by wife: police

April 19, 2013 10:42 pm | Updated November 16, 2021 12:10 pm IST - HYDERABAD:

The murder attempt on a bar waiter three days ago at Saidabad was masterminded by his wife and carried out by her paramour, the police said on Friday.

The accused Ramavath Padma (30) and her alleged paramour K. Shiva Kumar, working as driver-cum-attender in Nampally RDO office, were arrested and remanded in judicial custody. Padma and her husband Tara Singh were residents of Singareni Colony of Saidabad.

Singh used to work in a private college during day time and as a bar waiter in the night. His wife worked in a private organisation as labourer. “Padma developed illegal relationship with Kumar eight years ago and was regularly meeting him,” Commissioner’s Task Force (East) Inspector K. Srikanth said.

The waiter grew suspicious of his wife on finding that she was frequently receiving calls from a particular mobile phone number. Eventually, he learnt that Kumar was the caller and was regularly meeting his wife.

Angered over this, Singh warned his wife to snap ties with Kumar. However, she continued her relationship inviting the wrath of her husband, the police said. “Padma told Kumar about her husband learning about their relationship. At her instance, he decided to eliminate the waiter,” the police said.

On the night of April 16, Kumar waited on his bike covering his face with a handkerchief near Vambay Colony in Saidabad while the waiter was returning home. He sprinkled chilli powder on Singh and stabbed him in his abdomen repeatedly with a knife and sped away.
