Dismissed constable attempts to burn vehicle of ASP

April 18, 2013 11:39 pm | Updated 11:39 pm IST - HYDERABAD:

A dismissed constable of Police Transport Organisation (PTO), Giri Prasad Sharma, and two of his accomplices tried to burn a four-wheeler of PTO Additional SP, Vijay Kumar at L.B. Nagar on Thursday.

According to L.B. Nagar Inspector P. Srinivas Reddy, Sharma and his accomplices came to Big Bazaar at L. B. Nagar on two bikes. They got off their bikes and sprinkled petrol inside the Tavera vehicle of the ASP. They lighted a matchstick and threw it on the vehicle and sped away. The ASP and his driver who went inside a shop rushed out and doused the flames with the help of locals. A criminal case was registered against Sharma and two others.

Sharma was already facing a criminal case for allegedly abducting a SP in the PTO and confining him in a shop at Adarshnagar a few months ago. Sharma then urged the government to reform the PTO alleging that several police officers were resorting to corrupt practices. After a high drama for over three hours he had set free the SP.
