Amidst allegations of mass copying in some centres and students forced to sit on the floor, Intermediate examinations started on Friday across the State.
Reports from districts said that in several centres students wrote the examinations sitting on the floor due to the lack of furniture. A statement from the Board of Intermediate Education (BIE) said that some minor incidents of lack of furniture were noticed in one room at Government Junior College, Vemulawada. Similarly, in the Government Vocational Junior College, Chittoor there was no furniture in one room. However, the concerned RIOs immediately provided furniture from neighbouring colleges and schools, the statement said.
Meanwhile, there were several complaints of mass copying reported from districts, which the officials did not confirm totally. However, an enquiry was reportedly ordered against a teacher in Jagityal for allegedly encouraging mass copying. An impersonation case was registered in Government Junior College, Sattupally and the accused was handed over to the police.
On the first day 70,284 students remained absent out of the total 9.7 lakh students registered for the exam. Thirty six cases of malpractices were booked.
