An auto-rickshaw driver, who has been allegedly sexually assaulting his five-year-old daughter for the past several days, was arrested by the Neredmet police of Rachakonda on Friday. The accused, who lives in Dwarakamayinagar, was addicted to liquor, the police said. “He has violated his own daughter many times. On learning this, his wife complained to us a couple of days ago,” said Kushaiguda ACP Shiva Kumar. During the investigation, the wife of the accused confirmed that her husband has been sexually assaulting the kid. The police arrested him and remanded him to judicial custody.

In another case, the Jagadgirigutta police of Cyberabad arrested a 50-year-old labourer after he sexually assaulted an eight-year-old girl living nextdoor at R.P. Colony. The accused lured the girl into his house offering her mangoes. As he made sexual advances, the girl screamed for help.

She ran out and informed her parents about the incident, who approached the police. In both the cases, provisions of the Protection of Children from Sexual Offences (POCSO) Act and relevant sections of Indian Penal Code were invoked against the accused.
