Members from the high-level committee to deliberate on the issue of sexual harassment of women in the film and television industry were taken aback when they spotted a non-member attending what is supposed to be the in-camera meeting on Friday.
Film actor and producer Jeevitha Rajasekhar, the non-member, not only attended the meeting, but also aired her views on the subject.
“We were perplexed with her presence at the meeting, as the Government Order constituting the committee did not mention her name. No outsider was allowed except her,” confided a member on the condition of anonymity, while admitting that nobody questioned her presence.
When sought his version, chairman of the committee and chairman of TSFDC, P. Ram Mohan Rao, said Ms. Jeevitha attended as a ‘special invitee’ in her capacity as an office-bearer of the Movie Artistes’ Association (MAA).
The members, however, point out that writer Paruchuri Gopala Krishna representing MAA was one among the attending members, and that the GO had not mentioned any other representatives from the association.
