Sports Coaching Foundation has been chosen by Government of India to receive the prestigious Rashtriya Khel Protsahan Puraskar from among all the NGOs in the country.
“This is in recognition for the SCF’s genuine contribution through Sports for Development programme, especially amongst the under-privileged sections of the society as part of its ‘Build India Through Sports’ concept,” a press release said.
K. Sai Baba, general secretary of the SCF (Masab Tank) and former Ranji Trophy cricketer who founded it in 1991 under the State Government’s Public Private Partnership (PPP) scheme to promote sports with emphasis on tapping and providing a platform to slum dwellers in the jurisdiction of Hyderabad’s civic body, will receive this award on the National Sports Day on Saturday (August 29) from President of India at Rashtrapathi Bhavan in Delhi.
Incidentally, this award comes within a couple of weeks of the US-based Rockfeller Foundation giving it the ‘Índia NGO Award’. Other Hyderabadis who will be present on the occasion to receive other awards include tennis star S.P. Mishra (Dhyan Chand Award), Kidambi Srikanth (Arjuna Award) and Anup Kumar Yama (Arjuna Award).
