House surgeon assaulted at Gandhi Hospital

5 attendants of burn patient attacked her

A house surgeon was allegedly attacked by five female attendants of a patient in the casualty section of Gandhi Hospital here on Monday.

A male patient who suffered 85% burns was brought to the hospital at around 12.30 p.m. on Monday. “The patient was in a critical condition. After he died, five of his attendants attacked her. The house surgeon, Jema, received blunt injuries,” alleged Dr G. Vasanth Kumar, casualty medical officer who was present in the unit during the attack.

Telangana Junior Doctors Association members condemned the incident. A complaint in this regard was lodged with Chilkalguda Police.

A fortnight ago, a resident doctor at Niloufer Hospital was allegedly attacked by a patient’s attendants.
