Unprecedented security arrangements were made by the police at the courts across the city following a protest call given by Telangana advocates, who are demanding a separate High Court for Telangana.
The RR court complex at LB Nagar was turned into a fortress with around 200 policemen drafted for the security arrangements. Deputy Commissioner of Police, L.B. Nagar, Tafseer Iqubal personally supervised the security arrangements. An official of DIG rank along with three ACPs, seven inspectors and 35 SI along with a sizable number of constables were deployed at the complex.
The police also took about 50 advocates into preventive custody even as they were planning to stage a protest. They were shifted to different police stations and released later. On Saturday, a group of advocates reportedly hurled eggs at some judges at the RR court complex during the protest.
At Medchal court complex around 150 policemen including officials were deployed. A group of advocates handed over a representation demanding formation of a separate High Court for Telangana. Mild tension prevailed for sometime at the City Civil Courts, Hyderabad in Old City when a group of advocates tried to prevent the staff from entering the premises. They were taken into custody.
Meanwhile, the police made massive security arrangements near the High Court at Madina Building and City Criminal Courts at Nampally.
