Five killed, two injured in road accident

In a gory accident, five persons, all aged 24 and below, and travelling in a car died when a SUV that was being driven by a 50-year-old businessman and resident of Jadcherla jumped the median on NH 44 and rammed into the car, under Shadnagar town police station limits on Sunday morning.

According to Deputy Superintendent, Shadnagar, S. Kalmeshwar, the businessman who was driving the SUV was undergoing treatment at a Hyderabad hospital.

“We really do not know what exactly happened. We understand that the SUV bearing the registration number AP 22 AJ 0099, just crashed into the median onto the opposite lane and hit the car (AP 28 DS 3798) ,” he said.

Two of them - Mahesh Goud (18) and Ramanujam (24), died on the spot, While three others – Rinku (14), Surya Pranay (22) and Chandra Pradeep (20) died in different hospitals where they were rushed for treatment.

The sole survivor in the car – Megha Prashant (18) is being treated at a hospital in Hyderabad.

Mr. Kalmeshwar said they were on their way to a mango garden in Bhoothpur to celebrate Bonalu when the accident occurred.
