Chief Minister K. Chandrasekhar Rao has decided to attend the last rites of doyen of Tamil Nadu politics M. Karunanidhi.

His decision could be seen from the fact that he expected support from the Tamil veteran and his party for the proposed anti-BJP and anti-Congress federal front at the national level.

Mr. Karunanidhi, according to the Chief Minister, was among the few politicians who could make people politically aware. Mr. Rao had called on Mr. Karunanidhi and his son Stalin in April this year to discuss the modalities of the formation of federal front for speedy development and to address the real issues faced by the States. Mr. Rao, who met Mr. Karunanidhi at the latter’s Gopalapuram residence, discussed with him the manner in which the federal front partners ought to approach politics.
