The Adventure Club of Andhra Pradesh (ACAP) on Thursday congratulated Malavath Poorna of Nizamabad and S. Anand of Khammam, students of the Andhra Pradesh Social Welfare Residential Educational Institutions Society, who scaled Mount Everest earlier in the week. Poorna, incidentally, is the youngest female to conquer the world’s highest peak.
The ACAP, which organised a series of awareness programmes to mark International Mt. Everest Day on Thursday, said the achievement of the Everest summiteers would inspire other youngsters in the State.
The programmes organised by ACAP include fancy dress and quiz competitions and a special screening of a movie on Everest.
The prize winners in the fancy dress competition include K. Jasmitha, K. Gayathri and R. Himali in the junior girls category, and G. Sudheer Singh, Chandan Sharma and Chaten Kamble in junior boys category. In adult female category, the winners were G. Ramadevi, G. Uma and R. Anuradha. In the adult male section, the winners were R. Naveen Kumar, R. Kiran Kumar and K. Raghvender.
ACAP founder K. Ranga Rao, Erudite Adventures founder P. Vishnu and Wildwood Adventures director S. Rishi Charan Singh gave away prizes to the winners.
