After long wait, Dharani, the new integrated land records management system, is becoming a reality.

Though not officially announced, the portal http://dharani.telangana. gov.in has been hosted on the internet offering various citizen services. The portal has been designed to combine land administration and registration services and function as single source for all land parcels and discharge land-related functions in an efficient and effective manner on near-real-time basis.

Rectification

The launch of the portal follows the land records updation programme in which rectification and purification of land records was taken up at the instance of Chief Minister K. Chandrasekhar Rao. The portal has been incorporated with various features, including the ‘know your land status’ and geographical information system for visual representation of the land record data to verify the status of the land online. Users can enter basic information about their lands on the portal to get the details, while the website also had the provision for downloading sale, mortgage, gift and lease deeds.

The portal would offer registration services like mutation/succession, land conversion/NALA, agriculture income and land valuation certificates.

Registration services

On the registration services side, users can obtain certified copies of land deeds, duty and fee calculator, encumbrance certificate, payment of registration services, slot booking and rescheduling and tracking the application status. The Revenue department has been conducting trial-run of Dharani at the sub-registrar offices of Parigi, Vikarabad and Nakrekal for the last few days to verify the efficacy of the portal and the results have been highly successful, according to senior officials.

The government has embarked upon the portal to ensure efficient land administration through automation of work flow, back-end digitisation and integration of multiple applications of different departments, in addition to adopting innovative modern technological interventions.

The portal presently has records of over 90% land with 1(b) patta issued under the ROR (record of rights) and the government intends to incorporate details of the remaining lands once the disputes surrounding them are cleared.
