‘It is imperative to take measures to save earth’

Volunteers of Vibrants of Kalam, a social service organisation, stood in neck-deep pits for two hours to send across a message to protect earth, in connection with the 75th anniversary of the United Nations Organisation, on the premises of VNR High School here on Thursday.

District Forest Officer Sunil Heramath, who was present on the occasion, said the impact of global warming was high now owing to excessive use of plastic and deforestation. Frequent natural calamities were causing danger to all creatures, including humans. “If no measures are taken now, the very survival of the humans would be threatened,” he added.

He said it was imperative to protect earth as envisioned by former President A.P.J. Abdul Kalam and lauded the members of Vibrants of Kalam for undertaking the deeksha. Later, he administered an oath to students to protect the earth.

Vibrants of Kalam Telugu States in-charge T. Sreehari, district coordinator T. Hanmandlu, R. Janardhan, school correspondent Yadesh Goud, Santhosekumar, JCI president Satish and Sekhar were present.
