Forum for Good Governance has requested the Chief Secretary to place all the pending Vigilance Commission (VC) reports in the Assembly and review the pending Anti-Corruption Bureau (ACB) cases.

In a communication to the CS, a copy of which, was released to the media on Thursday, Forum secretary M. Padmanabha Reddy pointed out that VC submits annual reports to government containing names of government officials against whom action is to be initiated.

The government is supposed to initiate action on VC’s report and place the report along with action taken report on the floor of the House usually in a year’s time. But, when Vigilance Commission copies for 2014-15, 2015-16, were sought, the government said the reports were under examination and hence, cannot be given before placing it in the Assembly.

During this period, VC has sent 683 cases pertaining to employees for action of which 419 cases are corruption related cases of ACB, where the Anti-Corruption Bureau has requested for permission to prosecute the accused officers. But, in the name of processing, the files are kept pending for years in various departments of Secretariat, he charged.Mr. Reddy claimed that there was no justification to deny handing over copies of the reports even after four years of submission, moreover, there was every possibility of tainted officers having retired. The FGG alleged that the protection of corrupt officials is deliberate and urged the top official to look into it and place all the pending VC reports in the Assembly and review pending ACB cases in Secretariat.
