Chief Secretary P.K. Mohanty will hold a meeting with employees here on May 29 to allay their concerns over the temporary allotment of employees to Telangana State well before the Appointed Day. This is in the wake of the TRS MLA V. Srinivas Goud’s utterance that no Seemandhra employee should be given orders to serve in Telangana.
The orders to serve in Telangana State are expected to be issued by the Centre in a day or two and the final allocation of State-level employees between the two States would be made in due course.
The Telangana employees’ associations have been opposing the method adopted for provisional allotment based on local status which resulted in some Telangana employees being allotted to the residuary Andhra Pradesh and Seemandhra employees to Telangana. They demanded that even for temporary allotment, all the Telangana employees should be allotted to Telangana State by creating supernumerary posts, if required.
Telangana Employees’ Association honorary chairman and TRS MLA V. Srinivas Goud met the Chief Secretary before he left for Delhi on Tuesday and requested him to represent the employees’ demand to the Centre. He also said no Seemandhra employee should be given orders to serve in Telangana.
Mr. Mohanty will attend the State-level advisory committee meeting in Delhi on Wednesday. The committee headed by C.R. Kamalnathan with Chief Secretary, Central and State government officials as members will discuss the draft guidelines for final allocation of State-level employees between the two successor States on the basis of options. The process would be done in a transparent manner and will take about three to four months, officials said.
Meanwhile, with Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister-designate N. Chandrababu Naidu expected to be sworn in only on June 8, the Centre is expected to issue orders facilitating the Governor to administer the residuary State of Andhra Pradesh for one more week.
The President’s rule in the State is expected to lapse on the Appointed Day when the two State Chief Ministers assume office. However, only Telangana Chief Minister-designate K. Chandrasekhar Rao will take over on June 2 while Mr. Naidu has sought more time.
