Progress in social, economic and political spheres can be achieved only by ensuring justice in those fields, said Hyderabad High Court Chief Justice Thottathil B. Radhakrishnan.

He was addressing the gathering after hoisting the tri-color flag on the HC premises here on the Independence Day on Wednesday.

Only by assuring the dignity of the individual, the unity and integrity of the nation can be achieved. This will give courage to people to come forward and say that they would live up to the constitutional goals, he said.

Observing that independence is not mere political independence, the Chief Justice said people would assess the progress of the nation from time to time.

He urged all citizens to abide by Fundamental Duties so that nation marches in consonance with the constitutional aspirations and goals.

Explaining the work done at the HC, the Chief Justice said that, the HC judges — on rotation — decided criminal appeals of those in in jails by holding special sittings on almost all Saturdays.

The CJ lauded the services rendered by judges Ramesh Ranganathan, Ramasubramanian and P.V. Sanjay Kumar for Legal Services Authorities of both the States and the Mediation and Conciliation Centre.
