The Hyderabad Lake festival and the national Laser Sailing event will be held here from July 23 at the famous Hussain Sagar Lake.

Organising Secretary Lt. Col Anil Das told PTI that the week-long event is being organised to celebrate the Silver Jubilee of Laser Class Association of India and Laser National Sailing Championship, and also to bring awareness about preservation of the lake and the environment.

As part of the event a series of programmes are being planned for Laser Nationals 2010 including coaching camp and rules seminar, military Display Philharmonic Orchestra Green brigade walk, council meet and AGM musical besides evening prize distribution.

Mr. Das said six military bands shall give a power packed recital on July 25 followed by a delightful performance next day by a fifty-piece Symphony Orchestra by the Air Warrior Symphony Orchestra.

On July 27, a precision awe inspiring rifle drill display by the Air Warrior team will be the highlight. Both these contingents - the Air warrior symphony Orchestra and Rifle Drill display are being specially flown down for the event courtesy the Indian Air Force.

To help showcase and highlight the environmental concerns a Green Brigade walk is being organized on July 29 with 500 school children and adults taking part in it.

The Sailing nationals will be conducted on the waters of Hussain Sagar and showcase the strengths in this Olympic class of boats. Hosted by Secunderabad Sailing Club and the EME Sailing Association in partnership with HMDA APTDC Sports Authority of Andhra Pradesh and other support sponsors, more than 100 sailors young and old will be competing and vying for the top slots during the festival.

The event will conclude on July 31 with a closing ceremony and Regatta ball.
