EFLU student raped, ‘friends’ held

November 02, 2014 11:44 pm | Updated November 16, 2021 08:52 pm IST - HYDERABAD:

A post-graduate student of English and Foreign Languages University (EFLU) was raped allegedly by two of her friends, one of whom was a classmate, on the campus.

Though the incident was reported two days ago, the victim lodged a complaint with the police on Saturday night following which the two persons were arrested.

The 22-year-old student alleged that Nitin S (21), a first-year MCJ student and Raj Simha (24) a former student of EFLU had sexually violated her in a room in the boy’s hostel. The woman knew both the accused persons for the last few years and one of them had even pursued his bachelor’s course with her. While Nitin stayed at the hostel, Raj Simha occasionally visited the campus to meet his friends, the police said.

“The woman told us that she went to Nitin’s room on Friday night. Later, he and his friend raped her,” Kachiguda ACP S. Sudhakar said.

The woman approached the police on Saturday evening and lodged a complaint following which a case under different sections of the Indian Penal Code was registered against Nitin and Raj Simha. They were arrested on Sunday evening.
