BJP demands all party meet to discuss Swine flu

Published - September 15, 2009 04:23 pm IST - Hyderabad:

Expressing concern over the sudden rise of swine flu deaths in the state, the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) of the Andhra Pradesh unit on Tuesday urged the Andhra Pradesh government to convene an all-party meeting immediately to discuss about the measures to control and check further spread of the disease.

Till Monday 12 swine flu deaths (most of them in Hyderabad) were reported in the state. The sudden raise of A(H1N1) virus cases has created panic among the public and the government has failed to take effective steps to control the deadly disease, BJP State unit General Secretary K. Laxman and party’s spokesperson N. Ramachander Rao told presspersons here.

“It was sheer negligence of the Health Department which failed to take effective steps in controlling the disease,” the BJP leader said.

They urged the government to take measures to control and create awareness among the public about the symptoms of the disease.
