This is the current situation of the Government College of Nursing building located at Raj Bhavan Road in Hyderabad.
The architecture was listed grade III heritage building in Regional Mughal Variation style, the building dotting the Hyderabad skyline with its small-domed chattris.
The GCN building originally belonged to a nawab in the court of the last Nizam of Hyderabad, Mir Osman Ali Khan.
Built in the 1930s, the GCN used to have huge verandah with a circular garden and a fountain.
The entrance is from the porch and it provides access through a multi-cusped arch.
After independence, the Government took over and allotted it to medical and health department for running the Government College of Nursing for over 40 years now.
When the previous government wanted to demolish the GCN, activists went to the High Court. The Government vacated the building but started building a block right in the verandah, spoiling the facade.
The Telangana State Government now has plans of building a skyscraper in place of the GCN.
