3 students detained near NIA office

Three engineering students hailing from Bidar in Karnataka got the shock of their lives when the Begumpet police picked them up for moving suspiciously near the office of National Investigation Agency (NIA) on Monday afternoon.

The NIA is probing the Dilsukhnagar twin blasts case.

The students aged between 27 and 30 had attended an interview in a private company in Begumpet earlier in the day.

After coming out of the office, they were loitering near the NIA office in Begumpet when the police noticed them.

The youngsters were asked to furnish identity proofs and when they failed to do so, the police took them to the Begumpet police station under the suspicion that they could be scouting the National Investigation Agency office. But, after being questioned for a while, the police let them off.

Suspects in Delhi

Meanwhile, the National Investigation Agency (NIA) took the two suspected Indian Mujahideen operatives – Syed Maqbool and Imran Khan -- back to New Delhi by a flight amid tight security. The two operatives were in the five-day custody of NIA.

They were brought to the city to collect more information about the purported executors of the February 21 Dilsukhnagar twin blasts, which claimed 16 lives and injured 117 others.

Taken to site

The NIA took them to the site of the blasts and other potential target prone areas.

Medical tests were conducted on them at the NIA office in Begumpet before they were shifted to the Rajiv Gandhi International Airport at Shamshabad.

TheNational Investigation Agency will produce them before a Delhi court, which had granted their custody for five days on February 28.

Maqbool and Imran were lodged in Tihar Jail following their arrest by the Delhi police in the August last year in connection with the Pune blast case.
