A woman has been arrested for allegedly killing her husband, dismembering his body into eight pieces and burying them at three different places here, including her house, the police said on Friday.

A senior officer said 35-year-old Sunita from Outer north Delhi’s Swaroop Nagar was arrested on Thursday after she allegedly confessed to the crime.

Severed head found

On March 15, Bhalaswa Dairy police found a severed head buried in the area after which a murder case was registered. The police then began a probe.

On Wednesday, Sunita’s landlord visited the house and found the backyard dug up, the police said. He then asked the accused about it but she could not provide a satisfactory answer. Following this, he informed the police.

“The police reached the spot on Wednesday evening. They found the torso of a man buried in the backyard. They suspected it to be of Sunita’s husband Rajesh,” the officer said, adding that she was taken in for questioning after locals claimed that Rajesh had been missing for a few days.

During sustained interrogation, she allegedly confessed to the crime.

“She said he used to beat her mercilessly after getting drunk and she was fed up of him. Sunita’s mother who also lived with them went missing after Rajesh took her to an unknown place. She was angry with him for this too,” the officer said.

The accused used to beat her suspecting her of infidelity, she allegedly told the police.

Sunita had killed Rajesh on February 11 after which she cut his hands and legs and head into different pieces. “She buried the trunk in the backyard, limbs at a secluded place in Burari and head in Bhalaswa Dairy,” the officer said.

The couple also has a 12-year-old son, the police said.
