Two persons have been arrested for allegedly printing and circulating fake Indian currency notes for gambling and buying liquor, the police said on Saturday.
DCP (Central) Mandeep Singh Randhawa said that the accused have been identified as Manish (29), who hails from Kanpur, and Naeem Ansari (37), who belongs to Bulandshahr. They were living in a rented accommodation in Hari Nagar, where they allegedly printed fakes notes of denomination of ₹500, ₹200 and ₹50 using a high-quality printer.
The police said that they stopped an autorickshaw in Pahar Ganj on Saturday. “The driver, identified as Jamshed, showed all the documents. Manish, who was in the back seat, grew nervous. He was searched and 32 fake notes of denomination of ₹200 were found,” Mr. Randhawa said.
Manish, along with his friend Naeem, had been printing fake notes for the past one month. Naeem was had been doing it for over six months and he roped in Manish,” Mr. Randhawa said, adding that Naeem was arrested at Manish’s instance.
