A 24-year-old man has been arrested for allegedly a woman resident two years ago, the police said on Monday.

Soon after the incident, the accused, from Lodhi Colony, had fled the spot with her jewellery, they said.

A senior officer said Sagar worked as a waiter in a posh restaurant in Lodhi Colony.

October 2016 incident

In October 2016, the victim, from Nepal, approached the police stating that Sagar had sexually assaulted her on the pretext of marriage.

Started beating her

She added that on demanding a formal alliance, he started beating her.

The accused then stole her jewellery and fled, she said. The police registered a case and began probe.

During investigation, the police got Sagar’s picture from his previous employers.

“Several social media websites were checked. Finally, one account was found active and friends on that profile were approached, which led to a few leads,” said the officer.
