Following complaints of broken syringes and torn gloves being supplied to G.B. Pant Hospital and confirmation from hospital authorities about the condition of the gloves, Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal on Tuesday asked Health Minister Satyendar Jain to probe the matter.
Writing to Mr. Jain, Mr. Kejriwal said he had seen the report of the Medical Director of the hospital that had confirmed that the surgical gloves supplied were indeed torn.
The report, however, was silent on the allegation of broken syringes, the Chief Minister noted.
Asks for report
Asking Mr. Jain to investigate and submit the report by September 20, Mr. Kejriwal said, “The issue of supply of substandard materials in hospitals is highly objectionable and unacceptable.”
He added that though the supplier had been asked for an explanation and action, including penalty and blacklisting, would be taken, the hospital authorities had failed to ensure quality control.
He said action should be taken against the officials responsible, apart from the supplier.
