Paralympian Devendra Jhajharia and the Chief National Coach of the Indian Badminton team Pullela Gopichand on Monday released a book titled ‘Sports: A Way of Life’ by Kanishka Pandey, a student of Faculty of Law, Delhi University.

Part of life

While releasing the book at the India International Centre (IIC) here, Mr. Gopichand emphasised the need to look at sports not only from the perspective of winning or losing but as part of life.

UGC Vice-Chancellor Prof. Ved Prakash, who was also present, said the research will help people understand that sports helps build character and instill moral values.

The writer said: “The age old notion that sports will spoil you have been seriously challenged by the modern day youth, and they have proved that even sportsman can become as successful as bureaucrat or even an academician. The book focuses on how sports helps build a person's character.”

Mr. Pandey interviewed many sportspersons and looked at the lives of players receiving training at national and State training camps before writing the book.
