The Delhi Development Authority (DDA) has received over 40,000 applications under its housing scheme for 2019, said officials on Monday.
The urban body opened the portal for registration under the 2019 housing scheme in March this year and the last date was extended by a month to June 10.
‘Good response’
Officials said while the response to this year’s housing scheme was “good”, the DDA is expecting the final count to be higher.
“While the registration for the housing scheme ended on Monday, we are expecting close to 50,000 applications. The data is provided by the empanelled banks through which interested stakeholders could register. While we already have the data for 40,000 applicants, the final count should be much higher,” said a senior DDA official.
The draws for the scheme are likely to be held in the last week of June, the official added.
Around 1,800 flats in Vasant Kunj and Narela are on offer under this year’s housing scheme. Out of the total number of flats, 450 are high-income group (HIG), 1,550 are middle-income group (MIG) and 8,300 are low-income group (LIG) flats.
Additionally, 7,700 flats are under the economically weaker section (EWS) category.
Meanwhile, 2,000 flats under the older scheme have been booked while around 1,000 flats are still available.
“These flats from the older inventory are on offer. Interested stakeholders can book them online. It is on a first come, first served basis and the online portal will be open till the inventory lasts,” the official added.
