The police have made no headway three days after a 28-year-old air hostess and her two female friends were allegedly groped, sexually assaulted, slapped and threatened with rape by over 10 drunk men in Hauz Khas.

Deputy Commissioner of Police (South) Vijay Kumar said that the CCTV footage, which has been obtained has not captured the incident. “CCTV footage from certain spots have been obtained, but there are no clues yet. Footage from more spots will be collected and scanned to ascertain the identity of the accused,” he said.

The accused had also allegedly snatched the mobile phone of the 28-year-old woman, but the police said that the phone’s location has not been traced yet.

After New Year’s celebration at a café in Aurobindo Marg, the victim, her two female friends, her husband and a male friend were walking. They were waiting for their cab around 1.30 a.m., when two men, allegedly drunk, passed lewd comments at the women. When her 28-year-old husband, a resident of New Rajinder Nagar and consultant at a firm in Gurugram, objected to it, the accused started arguing. The two men subsequently called about 10 others and thrashed the five. They allegedly molested and slapped the girl and punched the men.

Statement recorded

The couple gave their statement to the Magistrate on Thursday and said that while the investigators were cooperative, they were “clueless about the investigation”. “We spoke to the police today and requested them to find the accused,” the 28-year-old woman said.
