Four minors, including a Class VIII student of a government school, have been apprehended in connection with the broad daylight murder of a teenager in Adarsh Nagar here earlier this week.
The investigation into the matter has revealed that it was the dispute between two groups of boys over friendship with a girl that culminated in the sensational murder.
The police got to know about the murder when it received a call from Babu Jagjivan Ram Hospital on November 20 saying that a minor was brought to hospital with a stab wound and declared dead on arrival. One of the victim’s friends, who had accompanied him to hospital, told the police that a Class VIII student of a government school had a scuffle with a minor boy over friendship with a girl studying in the same school a few days ago and soon their friends also got involved in the matter. The two groups had a scuffle on November 19 and threatened each other.
On November 20, the two groups again gathered near a government school in Adarsh Nagar and had a scuffle. During the scuffle, one of the boys allegedly stabbed Shahrukh belonging to the other group. Shahrukh was declared brought dead at a hospital.
Two of the juveniles in conflict with the law were apprehended from their respective residences and their blood-stained clothes were seized. The two were then produced before the Juvenile Justice Board. Another juvenile was apprehended from outside a government school in Shalimar Bagh. The prime accused, who works at a juice shop, was apprehended at a park in Jehangirpuri on Thursday night. The knife used in commission of murder was also seized at this instance.
Shahrukh’s brother Shanu had earlier maintained that Shahrukh was on his way to a school in Adarsh Nagar to pick his minor cousin, a Class V student, around noon when a group of young men waylaid him and allegedly attacked him with knives.
