Minorities panel comes to the rescue of DBCs

July 09, 2018 01:36 am | Updated 01:57 am IST - New Delhi

Domestic breeder-checkers (DBCs) working with the East Delhi Municipal Corporations (EDMC) will no longer be on a four-month ‘break’ without pay, thanks to the intervention by the Delhi Minorities Commission.

The EDMC gives a four-month ‘break’ without pay to the DBCs despite the fact that have been employed by the civic body on contractual basis for the last 20 years as part of its efforts to check mosquitoes breeding. As a result of the DMC’s intervention, these workers will given a break of just one day and will continue to work thereafter.

The DMC has also taken note of a complaint raised by the workers that they have not been regularised even after 20 years of service.
