An inquiry into how much the North Delhi Municipal Corporation spends on its website has been ordered by Mayor Ravinder Gupta, after reports of the three civic bodies shelling out Rs.1 crore a month.

Recently, an RTI revealed that the three municipal corporations pay Tech Mahindra Rs.1 crore in total every month to maintain their websites. Mr. Gupta has written a letter to Commissioner Pravin Kumar Gupta to enquire into the expenditure on the Corporation’s site. The contract with Tech Mahindra was drawn up by the unified Municipal Corporation of Delhi and then inherited by the three bodies in 2012.

Mr. Gupta said that despite trifurcation the websites were still working in a unified manner. The Mayor said the purpose of the website has been defeated as the delivery of services has not been simplified.
